Mary has a B.S. in Health & Fitness from Springfield College and is a 1990 graduate from the Connecticut Center of Massage Therapy in Newington. She is a licensed therapist (#000420) and a member of the American Massage Therapy Association for the past 21 years.
Mary’s clients over the past two decades represent a wide variety of ages, lifestyles and needs. Each massage session is specifically tailored to the client utilizing varied techniques. Areas of specialization include high school students dealing with stress and sports related concussions and midlife individuals trying to balance raising children while caring for their parents. Additional focus areas include those recovering from cancer and those who may need Comfort Massage for long term care, hospice and palliative care. Her experience also includes aspects of Pain Management and Orthopedic Assessment, Myofascial Release, Pregnancy Massage, Hot Stones, Hospice and Palliative Care Massage as well as Reiki. From 2006-2008, Mary interned with the Spiritual Life Center currently located in West Hartford as a Spiritual Companion. |

Marián Cañas grew up in Madrid, Spain and came to the United States in 1991. She studied massage therapy and graduated with honors at Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy in Newington, CT, in 2006.
An extensive knowledge of the muscles of the body allows for Marián’s lauded style of laser-precise medium to deep tissue work. This work is eagerly praised by her regular clientele who visit Marián for pain and injury relief. Marián Cañas also has an especially high bar for customer service. In a session with Marián, a client can expect especially close attention to be paid to their personal preferences, exemplified by every client’s opportunity to choose from her specially blended oils that include essential oils such as lemongrass or lavender. Joanne DiRusso studied massage therapy at CT Center For Massage Therapy in Newington, and has developed a focus on clients experiencing acute and chronic pain. She has a great understanding of individuals’ tolerance levels, and how to customize each session to balance client comfort and greater mobility and relief. Joanne’s practice focuses on increasing function and mobility, and decreasing pain and tension. Marie is a graduate of the Therapeutic and Swedish Massage Program at the Florida College of Natural Health (FCNH) in Orlando, FL. She became licensed in Florida and took a massage position at the prestigious Mandara Spa at Universal Studios Orlando. She also worked as a teaching assistant in the clinical classrooms and directed the Public Clinic at FCNH for more than a year. She is nationally certified and a CT licensed massage therapist. Her passion for massage and the healing power of the human body has led her to specialize in pain management for injuries and chronic pain syndromes. She has also worked extensively with athletes of many kinds in enhancing performance, assisting in rehabilitation from injuries, and post-event treatments to reduce recovery times. She has provided post-event sports massage at the Disney Triathlon, Disney Marathon, Clermont Iron Man Competition, and many other charity sponsored sporting events. Each massage is personalized to the needs of the individual client and incorporates the many modalities listed below as needed to facilitate healing.

After spending 30+ years managing in a corporate environment, Michael turned his energies to pursuing a career that would reflect a lifestyle of health and fitness, and his love of athletics. Michael holds the rank of a seventh degree black belt and has been practicing martial arts for over forty years. This, coupled with a deep interest in eastern philosophy, and a desire to help people led to an education at CCMT for massage therapy. Michael graduated with honor grades in 2010 and continues as a teaching assistant at the school. Primary aspects of his practice include Sports Massage, Deep Tissue, and Swedish Massage. Ann has 14 years of experience working with clients to support their personal growth and healing. She provides a full range of massage modalities from gentle Energy Healing and Swedish Relaxation Massage to Deep Tissue Massage. Intuitive Therapy is her specialty. She is versed in modalities that support a full range of human concerns on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. Her practice incorporates the gentle modalities, CranioSacral Therapy and Intuitive Energy Healing, which provide light contact while supporting the body to release stored tension and restore balance. This creates ease and movement toward a centered alignment. These modalities also effect the anatomy of the musculoskeletal, nervous and endocrine systems to increase the client’s ability to cope with activities of daily living, heal the effects of illness and create healing.
Ann has been trained in CranioSacral Therapy by the Upledger Institute and received two levels of training in the Usui Method of Reiki. She completed two years of training with the Hartford Family Institute, Human Relations Program, focusing on In-Depth Body Psychotherapy and Subtle Energy Healing. She has received Hospice training and served as a Hospice volunteer. Her experience also includes work with Shamanism, Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress recovery, Meditation, Sound Healing, Flower Essences, Expressive Art, Women’s Studies, and Yoga. Sarah Thayer has been a Connecticut Licensed massage therapist offering comprehensive massage therapy services since 2004. She is also a DONA certified birth doula and has been attending births in the greater Hartford area since 2003. She is a 2003 graduate from CCMT in Newington, CT and a 2007 graduate from CCSU with her B.A. in Sociology. Sarah has specialized training in Cranio-Sacral Therapy from the Upledger Institute, and a certification in the MotherMassage technique of pregnancy massage from Elaine Stillerman. Greg Wood is a graduate of CT Center for Massage Therapy, and has continued his education with special training in the anatomical study of, and techniques that release tension in the neck and shoulders. Incorporating some aspects of trigger point, myofascial, and stretching modalities, he is committed to his clients’ improved comfort and range of motion. A good client for Greg would be anyone experiencing pain between the shoulder blades, through the neck, or regular headaches. Frequent visitors include athletes, those with desk jobs, frequent laptop users, and clients with small children.
